At the Healthy Soil, Healthy Water Workshop, farmers and others in the Wisconsin River Basin will hear firsthand from individuals involved in locally-led efforts to build soil health, conserve nutrients, reduce erosion, and improve water quality.

Keynote speakers Shane Wucherpfennig and Rick Georgeson will share a brief background on the Wisconsin River Water Quality Improvement Project and the current and future context for farming and the ag economy as it relates to the water quality project. The first workshop panel will feature local ag producers speaking on the challenges and rewards of incorporating no till and cover crops, including yield lags, economics, and incorporating manure. The second panel will address tools to help farmers interested in conservation practices, including farmer-led efforts, lending opportunities, equipment changes, and water quality trading.
